Apparel Designer

We are looking for an Apparel Designer to support the creation of compelling men’s swimwear and softgoods for a leading apparel manufacturing environment in Long Beach, California. This Long-term Contract opportunity is ideal for a highly creative, detail-oriented individual who can translate market insights and brand direction into commercially relevant, performance-focused product concepts. The role offers the chance to influence seasonal assortments, collaborate across cross-functional teams, and help deliver products that combine innovation, function, and modern style.

Responsibilities:
• Direct the full design lifecycle for men’s swimwear and related softgoods, from initial idea generation through final product execution.
• Create original design concepts, hand sketches, digital renderings, and detailed technical packages that clearly communicate product intent.
• Work closely with product development, technical design, sourcing, and marketing partners to move styles from concept to production within established timelines.
• Analyze trend movements, consumer preferences, fabric innovations, and color direction to inform product decisions and seasonal design strategies.
• Develop prototypes and review product iterations to ensure alignment with fit expectations, functional performance, and visual appeal.
• Balance creative vision with business objectives by designing assortments that support brand positioning and broader market goals.
• Provide guidance and constructive feedback to entry-level team members while fostering a collaborative and quality-driven design culture.
• Manage several design initiatives at once in a fast-paced setting, maintaining strong organization and consistent attention to deadlines.

Qualifications:

• At least 5 years of design experience within swimwear, activewear, performance apparel, or a closely related category.
• Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Creative Cloud for product design and presentation work.
• Demonstrated strength in graphic design, apparel visualization, and translating ideas into refined design deliverables.
• Proven ability to build sketches, CADs, tech packs, and prototypes with a high level of accuracy and creative consistency.
• Strong understanding of materials, color application, fit considerations, and performance-focused product design principles.
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to bring apparel products to market successfully.
• Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and perform effectively in a deadline-driven, high-volume environment.

Compensation

$27.71-$32.09 Hourly
