Accounts Payable Specialist

Compensation: $32 to $34 Hourly

We are looking for an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team in Richmond, California in a contract-to-permanent capacity. This role is ideal for someone who brings strong knowledge of full-cycle payables, thrives in a detail-driven environment, and can manage invoice processing with accuracy and efficiency. The position offers the opportunity to support essential financial operations while working closely with internal partners to maintain timely and compliant payment activity.

Responsibilities:
• Review, code, and process a high volume of vendor invoices with close attention to accuracy and proper general ledger alignment.
• Perform three-way matching by verifying invoices against purchase orders and receiving documentation before approving payment.
• Manage payment activities through ACH transactions and check runs, ensuring deadlines are met and records remain complete.
• Reconcile vendor statements, research discrepancies, and resolve payment issues in coordination with internal teams and external suppliers.
• Maintain organized accounts payable files and supporting documentation to strengthen audit readiness and reporting accuracy.
• Use Microsoft Excel to track payable activity, analyze variances, and prepare routine account summaries.
• Partner with finance and operational staff to confirm approvals, clarify coding questions, and support smooth invoice workflow.
• Assist with accounts payable process improvements and support updates to procedures or systems when needed.

Qualifications:

• At least 5 years of hands-on experience in accounts payable or a closely related accounting support role.
• Strong working knowledge of invoice coding, account classification, and full-cycle AP processing.
• Experience handling ACH payments, check runs, and vendor payment coordination.
• Proficiency in three-way matching and resolving discrepancies tied to purchase orders and receipts.
• Advanced or strong practical skills in Microsoft Excel for tracking, reconciliation, and reporting tasks.
• High level of accuracy, organization, and follow-through in a deadline-oriented environment.
• Ability to communicate professionally with vendors and internal stakeholders regarding payment matters.

Compensation

$32.00-$34.00 Hourly
