Payroll Specalist

A growing Tacoma-area organization is seeking a hands-on Payroll Specialist to support payroll operations during a critical period. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys problem-solving, and can quickly step in to manage payroll processing with minimal ramp-up time.

Key Responsibilities

• Process multi-state payroll accurately and on schedule using Workday
• Review and validate employee payroll data, earnings, deductions, and tax information
• Handle payroll adjustments, garnishments, benefits deductions, and off-cycle payrolls
• Research and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
• Reconcile payroll reports and support month-end close activities
• Partner with HR, Accounting, and management teams to maintain payroll accuracy
• Assist with payroll audits, reporting, and documentation

Qualifications:

3+ years of payroll processing experience

Recent hands-on Workday Payroll experience required

Strong understanding of payroll laws, taxes, garnishments, and compliance requirements

Experience processing payroll in a high-volume environment

Proficiency with Microsoft Excel

Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills

Excellent communication and customer service abilities
