NeoGenomics is looking for a Molecular Laboratory Technologist who wants to learn to continue to learn in order to allow our company to grow. This is an onsite position with a Tuesday - Saturday, 3:00pm - 11:30pm shift, starting as a 12:00pm - 8:30pm shift for an undetermined period of time.

Position Summary:

As a Molecular Laboratory Technologist you will be responsible for complex laboratory procedures and handling all types of specimens submitted to the department for processing tasks assigned. You will independently performs complex molecular clinical tests in accordance with
departmental SOPs.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of test results and supports team workflow by mentoring others on time management and prioritization
  • Determines specimen acceptability, prepares specimens for testing, identifies specimen related issues, and independently resolves specimen problems within defined scope
  • Performs newly introduced molecular tests requiring defined skills once trained and authorized
  • Ensures testing and workflow documentation is complete and accurate and identifies gaps or needed clarifications in SOPs and escalates recommendations appropriately
  • Performs quality control and independently investigates QC failures within defined scope and conducts initial root cause analysis (RCA) and documents findings for escalation as
    needed
  • Demonstrates proficiency in all applicable molecular testing areas and independently troubleshoots assigned instruments and procedures
  • Applies CAP/CLIA molecular requirements to daily testing activities and supports audits and inspections as assigned
  • Optimizes batching, assay setup, and workflow efficiency and independently assists with additional setups to support throughput and TAT
  • Serves as a molecular trainer for routine and complex procedures and instrumentation and adjusts training pace and oversight based on trainee competency

Education, Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in medical technology from an accredited college or university preferred. Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in one of the chemical, physical, or biological sciences with the addition of at least 1 year of laboratory experience/training/training course
  • at least 3 years of equivalent experience (high complexity molecular testing) preferred
  • Understanding of general laboratory techniques with emphasis on department specific techniques
  • Possesses appropriate computer skills to accomplish tasks
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced, multi-tasking environment and maintain production and quality standards
  • Must be able to work in a biohazard environment and comply with safety policies and standards outlined in the Safety Manual
  • Good visual acuity, including color perception required for certain departments
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
