ISS STOXX is seeking a Senior Tax Associate to support the U.S. direct tax function within the North America Finance Team. Based in Rockville, Maryland, this role reports to the North American Tax Manager and works closely with the broader global tax team.
This newly created role offers an exciting opportunity for a tax professional to broaden their experience beyond traditional compliance work. The position provides exposure to U.S. federal and state taxation, tax accounting and income tax provisions, tax research, planning projects, and strategic tax initiatives within a growing multinational company. It is well suited for someone looking to transition from public accounting into a corporate tax environment, with meaningful learning opportunities and close collaboration with experienced tax professionals.
Your Responsibilities
U.S. Income Tax Compliance and Reporting
Prepare and coordinate U.S. federal and state income tax compliance workpapers, estimated tax calculations, extension filings, and supporting tax documentation.
Support quarterly and annual income tax provision processes, including preparation of workpapers, tax accounting analyses, deferred tax calculations, and validation of supporting data.
Prepare monthly income tax account reconciliations and assist with related journal entries.
Maintain tax compliance calendars and help ensure timely completion of filing obligations.
Assist with responses to tax notices and income tax audits.
Support tax planning projects and ad hoc tax analysis.
Support tax process improvement initiatives, automation opportunities, and the effective use of tax technology and data analytics tools.
Tax Research and Process Improvement
Research U.S. federal and state tax matters and prepare practical summaries and recommendations for internal stakeholders.
Monitor tax law developments and assist with evaluating potential impacts.
Support the development and maintenance of tax policies, procedures, and audit-ready tax documentation.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with Accounting, Finance, Treasury, and external advisors on tax-related matters.
Support tax payment processing and tracking.
Provide limited support on other tax matters as needed.
Your Profile
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Typically 2–5 years of relevant experience in U.S. direct taxation, preferably gained within public accounting (Big 4, national, or regional firms) or a corporate tax department.
CPA designation or active progress toward CPA licensing is preferred.
Demonstrated interest in developing a long-term career within corporate taxation and a multinational business environment.
Technical Expertise
Working knowledge of U.S. federal and state income tax compliance.
Experience supporting corporate tax compliance, tax accounting, and related tax workpapers.
Exposure to income tax provisions under IFRS and/or U.S. GAAP is desirable.
Familiarity with tax research, tax audits, and tax authority correspondence.
Strong Excel and Microsoft 365 skills; exposure to tax technology or data analytics tools is advantageous.

Base salary: The Rockville, MD expected base pay range is $80,000- $95,000 per year. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and level of education.
The role is bonus or sales incentive eligible.
