SSP Operator II



Job Summary

The SSP Operator II blends the precision of thermal process control with the rigor of decontamination safety, ensuring that equipment, materials, or facilities are effectively and safely decontaminated while meeting regulatory and operational standards.


Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


Monitor, notify and document all activities for the TEDS Units.

Comply with the TE-29 Teds Surveillance Technician Procedure Manual.

Perform visual equipment checks and inspections, monitor batch cycles and take readings on the equipment to ensure operating efficiency.

Record daily water meter readings of the facility,

Visually inspect mechanical spaces, equipment, interior and exterior utility systems for compliance.

Initiate deficiency logs and deviation documents and follow-up with a service order request.

Immediately report Level 1 alarms or utility failures to the Government Site Security Control Center.

Monitor building equipment alarms, process equipment alarms, record pressure and temperature transmitters readings on individual cook tanks and HVAC equipment, and incoming steam pressures to the TEDS units.

Perform routine inspections on decontamination equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety

Maintain accurate records of decontamination cycles, equipment performance, incidents, and maintenance actions

Work with engineering, safety, and operations teams to optimize and perform decontamination processes and improve efficiency

Follow all procedural manuals provided by the government for surveillance, monitoring and recording purposes.

Perform other duties as assigned.


Education and/or Work Experience Requirements



Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-

year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Willing to learn, follow instructions and work well with other members of the team.

Able and willing to perform all duties in conformance with company safety policies and procedures and follow company's safety, health and accident prevention plan.

Able to accurately represent FSI to customers and other outside contacts in an ethical and professional manner and to communicate technical information effectively.

Sufficient computer experience to scan and email documents, create and edit word and excel documents.

A valid driver's license and an insurable driving record

Must possess or be able to obtain a NACI security clearance.


Important Factors to consider when applying for this position:

The SSP Operators will be evaluated through a combined written and practical examination by a Facility Management Office SSP Operator and will require a minimum passing grade of 80% prior to performing any shift duties to include holiday, weekend or any selected shift rotations.

As a condition of employment, all SSP Operators, when directed by the CMM, will be required to enter and comply with all facets of the BPRP suitability program
