Position Description

This a responsible professional position with limited administrative and supervisory duties at the unit level. Specific duties include testing, psychological evaluation and diagnostic services as well as counseling assigned patient caseload. This position functions under the supervision of a higher level licensed psychologist, but the individual has full professional responsibility for higher actions and advice.

Major/Essential Functions

  • Assess and identify inmates with severe mental illness and behavioral health needs.
  • Conduct clinical interviews, evaluations, and risk assessments to support treatment planning and inmate safety.
  • Implement risk management procedures to address threats of self-harm, suicide, or harm to others.
  • Coordinate referrals to medical, mental health, crisis management, and behavioral health services.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough clinical documentation and caseload records.
  • Collaborate with security staff regarding inmate protection concerns and safety-related issues.
  • Support suicide prevention initiatives and other unit-specific behavioral health programs.
  • Manage caseload responsibilities, prioritize duties effectively, and meet established productivity standards.
  • Perform additional behavioral health and administrative duties as needed to support unit operations and inmate care.


Required Qualifications

Master's degree in psychology or a related field from an accredited college or university
