Buyer
We are looking for a detail-oriented Buyer / Material Planner to support manufacturing functions for a growing engineering and manufacturing company in Spartanburg, South Carolina. This is a Contract to Permanent position focusing on aligning supply needs with production priorities, maintaining reliable inventory levels, and helping keep operations running without interruption. The ideal candidate brings strong procurement judgment, effective supplier communication skills, and the ability to turn planning data into timely purchasing decisions.
Responsibilities:
• Convert operational forecasts and production needs into purchase and material requirements using company systems and planning tools.
• Build and maintain coordinated supply and delivery schedules that support business priorities and reduce delays across the workflow.
• Track inventory balances, review stock accuracy, and investigate differences between system records and physical counts.
• Work closely with vendors to confirm order timing, manage follow-up activities, and help prevent shortages that could affect continuity.
• Negotiate purchasing terms and support cost-conscious buying decisions while maintaining service and quality expectations.
• Monitor inbound shipments and expedite critical materials when timelines shift or supply risks emerge.
• Identify potential disruptions early, communicate concerns to stakeholders, and escalate urgent issues before they affect operations.
• Prepare regular reports on inventory activity, stock movement, and material adjustments to support planning and business decisions.
Qualifications:
• 2+ years of experience in buying, procurement, or supply chain support within a fast-paced business environment.• Working knowledge of purchasing processes, inventory control, and supplier coordination practices.
• Ability to analyze demand inputs and translate them into accurate material planning decisions.
• Experience using ERP, EHR, or related business systems; familiarity with IBM AS/400 is preferred.
• Strong communication skills for managing vendor relationships and coordinating with internal teams.
• Proficiency in reporting, data review, and resolving discrepancies in inventory or purchasing records.
• Background exposure to Procurement and Supply Chain Management concepts is required.
• Additional familiarity with Health Information Management, AHLTA, or McKesson is a plus.
Compensation
