Controller

We are looking for an experienced Controller to support financial oversight and accounting operations for a long-term contract opportunity in Blacksburg, Virginia. This role will focus on reviewing complex accounting activity, ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting, and providing oversight of key documentation processes. The ideal candidate brings strong judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively within an established accounting environment.

Responsibilities:
• Oversee and evaluate the work produced by accounting managers and senior accounting staff to maintain quality and compliance.
• Examine complex journal entries for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to accounting standards.
• Review financial statements and supporting schedules to confirm reliable and timely reporting.
• Utilize the Banner accounting system to manage, validate, and monitor financial information.
• Coordinate document control activities to ensure accounting records are organized and properly maintained.
• Manage document scanning and compilation tasks to support accessible, accurate, and audit-ready files.
• Verify that financial documentation is complete and aligned with internal reporting requirements.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience serving in a Controller or senior-level accounting leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of financial statement review and complex journal entry analysis.
• Experience overseeing accounting staff and reviewing the work of finance team members.
• Proficiency with document control, document organization, and records management practices.
• Hands-on experience with document scanning and compiling financial documentation.
• Familiarity with accounting systems such as Banner or comparable enterprise financial platforms.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy across financial and administrative records.

Compensation

$57.00-$66.00 Hourly
