Full Charge Bookkeeper

We are seeking a Full Charge Bookkeeper to join our team on a contract-to-hire basis. The goal is to transition the right candidate to a permanent position by the end of the contract.

The Full Charge Bookkeeper will oversee the day-to-day accounting operations, maintain accurate financial records, manage the month-end close process, and prepare financial reports for review by the company's outside accountant. The ideal candidate has strong full-cycle bookkeeping or accounting experience, is highly proficient in QuickBooks Online, and experience with Procore is a plus, but not required.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the full-cycle bookkeeping process, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger maintenance, and bank reconciliations.
• Complete month-end reconciliations and prepare financial reports for review and submission to the company's outside accountant.
• Prepare and post journal entries, reconcile balance sheet accounts, and complete the month-end close process.
• Prepare monthly financial statements, including the balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow reports.
• Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with company policies and accounting best practices.
• Perform bank, credit card, and account reconciliations.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow reporting.
• Support project accounting activities, including job costing, work-in-progress (WIP) reporting, retainage tracking, progress billing, and project cost analysis, when applicable.
• Partner with operations and management to ensure accurate financial reporting for projects and business operations.
• Coordinate with external accountants during year-end reviews, audits, and tax preparation.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and strengthen internal controls.
• Perform additional bookkeeping and accounting duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Qualifications

• 5+ years of bookkeeping, Staff Accountant, or general accounting experience.
• Experience supporting construction, manufacturing, engineering, field services, transportation, logistics, utilities, or other project-based businesses is highly preferred.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks Online is required.
• Experience with Procore is a plus, but not required.
• Strong experience with month-end reconciliations, financial statement preparation, general ledger accounting, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
• Experience with job costing, WIP schedules, retainage, progress billing, or project accounting is highly preferred.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
