Chief Human Resources Officer

Compensation: $175 to $185 Yearly

We are looking for an accomplished Chief Human Resources Officer to lead the people strategy for a nonprofit special education organization. This newly established executive role will guide both long-term workforce planning and day-to-day HR operations for a large, multi-site employee population. The ideal candidate brings strong judgment, operational depth, and a practical leadership style that supports compliance, employee well-being, and organizational effectiveness.

Responsibilities:
• Shape and lead the overall human resources strategy to support organizational goals, workforce stability, and high-quality employee performance.
• Oversee core HR functions, including employee relations, talent acquisition, benefits, leave administration, and workers’ compensation programs.
• Partner with executive leadership to align staffing plans, succession efforts, and talent initiatives with operational and mission-driven priorities.
• Direct HR operations across a large, multi-location employee base while ensuring consistent policy application and service delivery.
• Maintain compliance with employment laws, regulatory requirements, and internal standards through proactive oversight and process management.
• Provide senior-level guidance on complex employee matters, organizational change, and risk-sensitive personnel decisions.
• Evaluate and strengthen recruiting strategies to attract talent with relevant experience in a competitive hiring environment.
• Foster a culture of accountability, professionalism, and employee development through effective leadership and coaching of the HR function.

Qualifications:

• At least 5 years of progressive HR leadership experience, including service at the Director level or above.
• Background leading human resources within a complex organization spanning multiple sites and roughly 1,000 or more employees.
• Strong expertise in workers’ compensation, leave management, and strategic recruiting initiatives.
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Ability to operate as both a strategic executive and a hands-on leader in a fast-paced setting.
• Demonstrated knowledge of HR compliance, policy administration, and employee relations best practices.
• Experience guiding broad HR functions in an in-office environment with close partnership across leadership teams.

Compensation

$175,000.00-$185,000.00 Yearly
