Tax Manager - Public

Compensation: $120 to $140 Yearly

We are looking for an experienced Tax Manager to join a growing advisory firm. This role offers the chance to lead a well-established client portfolio, guide the direction of the tax practice, and work closely with firm leadership on strategic initiatives. The position is ideal for someone in public accounting who enjoys client advisory work, team development, and building efficient, high-quality tax operations.

Responsibilities:
• Direct the review and finalization of complex tax filings for individuals, businesses, trusts, and nonprofit organizations.
• Oversee daily tax department activity, balancing workload priorities, deadlines, and service standards across engagements.
• Coach and supervise tax team members, providing feedback, training, and developmental support to strengthen team performance.
• Advise clients on tax planning strategies and consult on matters that support financial and operational goals.
• Build strong client partnerships by serving as a trusted point of contact and delivering responsive, high-quality guidance.
• Monitor adherence to federal, state, and local tax requirements to maintain accurate and timely compliance.
• Evaluate current procedures and workpaper practices, then introduce improvements that increase efficiency and consistency.
• Contribute to practice expansion efforts, including supporting the onboarding and integration of acquired firms or service lines.
• Collaborate with firm leadership on operational planning, department strategy, and initiatives that enhance the client experience.

Qualifications:

• Background in public accounting with progressive responsibility in tax leadership and review.
• CPA strongly preferred; Enrolled Agent credentials may also be considered.
• Prior experience within a mid-sized regional accounting firm is highly desirable.
• At least 2 years of experience leading staff or managing direct reports.
• Advanced technical knowledge across tax compliance, tax planning, and return review.
• Demonstrated experience reviewing complex individual, corporate, partnership, trust, and nonprofit tax returns, including multistate filings.
• Strong ability to delegate work, manage competing deadlines, and develop team members effectively.
• Excellent client communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to thrive in a fast-moving growth environment.

Compensation

$120,000.00-$140,000.00 Yearly
