Tax Accountant
Responsibilities:
• Prepare and examine a range of federal and state tax filings for individuals, corporations, partnerships, trusts, nonprofits, and pass-through entities.
• Work closely with clients to gather necessary documentation, clarify financial details, and address questions related to filings, estimated payments, payroll considerations, and deduction opportunities.
• Review tax data for accuracy, identify missing information or inconsistencies, and escalate complex matters or planning considerations as needed.
• Support ongoing tax planning initiatives by analyzing client situations and helping develop practical strategies for business owners and higher-income individuals.
• Research tax rules and regulatory updates to help ensure compliance and inform recommendations provided to clients and internal teams.
• Coordinate with accounting and bookkeeping professionals to confirm financial records are complete, accurate, and ready for tax reporting.
• Maintain thorough workpapers, organized support files, and detailed client records to promote efficient review and future reference.
• Track deadlines, monitor assignment status, and use firm technology tools to improve workflow efficiency, communication, and documentation processes.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related discipline.• At least 3 years of experience in public accounting with a focus on tax work.
• Hands-on background preparing tax returns for individuals and business entities, including more complex filings.
• Progress toward or possession of a CPA or Enrolled Agent credential.
• Familiarity with multi-state tax matters and common entity return types such as partnerships, corporations, trusts, and individual filings.
• Proficiency with tax software, including CCH ProSystem or comparable platforms.
• Strong organizational ability, careful attention to detail, and the capacity to manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Clear and effective communication skills with the ability to work directly with clients and internal stakeholders.
Compensation
