Accounts Payable Specialist

We are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to support a nonprofit organization in Tampa, Florida. This contract opportunity with potential for a permanent role is ideal for someone who enjoys detailed invoice processing, accurate coding, and maintaining smooth payment operations in a fast-paced accounting environment. The person in this role will work across systems, help ensure proper documentation for payments, and contribute to reliable weekly disbursement activities.

Responsibilities:
• Enter and code vendor invoices with accuracy, transferring information from Concur into Sage Intacct while maintaining complete records.
• Review each payable item to confirm a proper three-way match between invoice, purchase order, and supporting documentation before payment is approved.
• Prepare and organize invoices for twice-weekly check runs, ensuring payment selections align with deadlines and internal controls.
• Handle manual payment requests and one-time disbursement needs submitted by administrative staff, entering them carefully into the accounting system.
• Reconcile invoice details, coding, and purchase order data to reduce discrepancies and support timely vendor payments.
• Respond to day-to-day accounts payable inquiries and assist with additional accounting tasks as priorities shift.
• Maintain organized documentation for all processed transactions to support audit readiness and reporting needs.

Qualifications:

• Hands-on experience in accounts payable, including invoice entry, account coding, and payment processing.
• Working knowledge of three-way matching and purchase-order-based invoice verification.
• Proficiency with Sage Intacct and Concur, or strong experience using comparable AP and expense management systems.
• Experience supporting check runs and electronic payments such as ACH transactions.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills for reviewing data, tracking payments, and resolving discrepancies.
• High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple invoices and deadlines accurately.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a collaborative finance team.

Compensation

$22.80-$26.40 Hourly
