Accounting Assistant

We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounting Assistant to join a finance team in Naperville, Illinois. This contract opportunity with potential for a permanent role is well suited for someone who enjoys keeping financial records accurate, supporting day-to-day accounting activity, and contributing in a fast-moving work environment. The position offers the chance to handle core transactional accounting work while helping maintain organized and reliable financial documentation.

Responsibilities:
• Process vendor invoices, review coding for accuracy, and support timely payment of accounts payable obligations.
• Assist with incoming payments, customer account updates, and routine accounts receivable tracking activities.
• Reconcile bank statements and internal financial records to identify discrepancies and keep balances current.
• Enter accounting data into QuickBooks and related systems with a high level of accuracy and consistency.
• Maintain organized financial files and documentation to support reporting, audits, and daily recordkeeping needs.
• Work closely with the finance team to resolve transaction issues, correct errors, and improve workflow efficiency.
• Support recurring accounting tasks and administrative finance duties in a deadline-driven environment.

Qualifications:

• At least 2 years of experience in an accounting assistant or similar finance support role.
• Hands-on experience with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
• Ability to complete bank reconciliations accurately and investigate variances as needed.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks and confidence working in accounting software systems.
• Experience reviewing and coding invoices with strong attention to detail.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Clear communication skills and the ability to work well within a collaborative team setting.

Compensation

$22.80-$26.40 Hourly
