Accounts Payable Specialist

We are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to support a retail organization in Burnsville, Minnesota through a Contract assignment. This role focuses on accurate invoice processing, payment coordination, and day-to-day accounts payable activities that help maintain timely vendor relationships. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable managing a steady volume of financial transactions in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:
• Review and process vendor invoices with careful attention to accuracy, coding, and approval requirements.
• Assign general ledger or expense codes to invoices and confirm charges are recorded to the proper accounts.
• Prepare and execute payment activities, including ACH transactions and scheduled check disbursements.
• Reconcile payable records and investigate discrepancies to ensure account balances remain accurate.
• Communicate with internal teams and external vendors to resolve invoice, payment, and documentation questions.
• Maintain organized accounts payable files and supporting records in accordance with company procedures.
• Monitor payment timelines to help ensure obligations are completed promptly and consistently.
• Assist with routine reporting and provide support for month-end accounts payable tasks as needed.

Qualifications:

• Experience performing accounts payable duties in a detail-oriented business environment.
• Working knowledge of invoice coding and account coding practices.
• Familiarity with processing electronic payments, including ACH transactions.
• Experience coordinating check runs and handling payment-related documentation.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-moving setting.
• Proficiency with accounting systems and standard office software.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills for vendor and internal follow-up.

Compensation

$29.00-$34.00 Hourly
