Accounts Receivable Specialist

We are looking for an Accounts Receivable Specialist to support a high-volume deduction environment in Lawrence, Massachusetts. This Long-term Contract position focuses on reviewing complex customer remittance activity, researching discrepancies, and driving timely resolution of outstanding balances across a large portfolio of accounts. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills, confidence working in Excel, and the ability to coordinate effectively with internal and external business partners.

Responsibilities:
• Review customer remittance details and supporting documents to identify the cause of deductions and payment variances across multiple account programs.
• Research, reconcile, and resolve outstanding deduction claims by comparing portal information, invoices, backup documentation, and account activity.
• Manage a sizable accounts receivable portfolio and prioritize follow-up actions to reduce aged balances and improve collection results.
• Partner with Sales, brokers, buyers, and Finance teams to confirm claim validity, challenge unsupported deductions, and secure resolution.
• Use retailer and compliance portals to track claim status, gather evidence, and submit information needed for dispute management.
• Apply cash and document account activity accurately to maintain clear records of payments, deductions, and open items.
• Analyze recurring deduction patterns and highlight issues that may be contributing to backlog or delayed payment recovery.
• Support billing and collections-related activities as needed to keep customer accounts current and aligned with internal records.

Qualifications:

• At least 2 years of experience in accounts receivable, deduction resolution, or a closely related accounting function.
• Practical knowledge of customer deductions, cash application, commercial collections, billing support, and cash activity processing.
• Strong Excel skills, including the ability to organize data, review account details, and reconcile discrepancies efficiently.
• Experience working with retailer deduction portals, compliance systems, or similar customer claim platforms.
• Ability to manage a high-volume workload across approximately 150 customer accounts with strong attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally and address disputes with careful attention to detail.
• Strong problem-solving and investigative skills for resolving complex claims backed by documentation and account research.

Compensation

$28.00-$32.00 Hourly
