Litigation Paralegal
Our client is seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal with a strong background in plaintiff-side personal injury and tort litigation. This role will support attorneys through all phases of litigation, from case inception through trial preparation and settlement. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing complex case files, coordinating discovery, drafting litigation documents, and working directly with clients, experts, medical providers, and opposing counsel. This position requires a highly organized professional who can independently manage a busy caseload, prioritize competing deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced litigation environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage plaintiff-side personal injury and tort litigation matters from pre-litigation through trial.
- Maintain and organize electronic and physical case files.
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, discovery responses, subpoenas, notices, and correspondence.
- Prepare and file court documents in California state and federal courts.
- Coordinate service of process and track service deadlines.
- Manage litigation calendars and monitor critical court deadlines.
- Prepare deposition notices, deposition summaries, and exhibits.
- Coordinate and schedule depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and court appearances.
- Collect, review, analyze, and summarize medical records and billing records.
- Request and track records from medical providers, employers, insurance carriers, and government agencies.
- Assist with damages analyses and settlement package preparation.
- Communicate regularly with clients regarding case status, records collection, and litigation developments.
- Draft demand packages and assist with settlement negotiations.
- Coordinate expert witness retention and document production.
- Prepare discovery logs and document productions.
- Conduct factual investigations and background research.
- Review and summarize police reports, incident reports, medical records, and expert reports.
- Assist attorneys with trial preparation, including exhibit lists, witness lists, trial binders, and jury instructions.
- Coordinate trial logistics and courtroom preparation.
- Maintain accurate billing and timekeeping records when applicable.
- Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, experts, insurance adjusters, and court personnel.
Qualifications:
Qualifications
- 5+ years of litigation paralegal experience.
- Significant experience supporting personal injury and tort litigation matters.
- Strong understanding of California civil litigation procedures and deadlines.
- Experience handling cases from intake through trial.
- Proficiency preparing and managing discovery.
- Experience reviewing and summarizing extensive medical records.
- Strong knowledge of court rules and filing requirements.
- Familiarity with state and federal court procedures.
- Trial preparation experience required.
- Experience coordinating depositions, mediations, and expert witnesses.
- Ability to manage multiple active litigation matters simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Advanced organizational and case management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and legal case management software.
- Paralegal certificate preferred.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
Compensation
