| Required Related Experience | The successful candidate should demonstrate a strong first-author publication record in peer-reviewed journals and possess experience in one or more areas, including cellular immunology, mammalian cell biology, advanced two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) cell culture systems, primary cell isolation and culture, epithelial biology, stem cell-based culture systems, immune cell culture and co-culture models, host–pathogen interactions, and molecular and cellular immunology. Experience with immunological techniques such as flow cytometry, cytokine analysis, multiplex immunoassays, ELISA, immunofluorescence microscopy, confocal microscopy, Western blotting, and immune signaling pathway analysis is highly desirable. Candidates with experience in next-generation sequencing workflows, including RNA isolation, sequencing library preparation, quality control, transcriptomic analysis, or other omics-based approaches, are strongly encouraged to apply. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, scientific rigor, analytical thinking, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively are essential. |

| Job Summary | The Department of Veterinary Science at the University of Kentucky invites applications for a highly motivated Postdoctoral Scholar/Research Associate to join an interdisciplinary research program investigating cellular immune responses to bacterial pathogens and the molecular mechanisms governing host–pathogen interactions. The successful candidate will lead innovative research utilizing advanced cellular and molecular biology approaches, sophisticated two-dimensional and three-dimensional cell culture systems, immunological assays, high-resolution imaging, and next-generation sequencing technologies to investigate epithelial and immune cell responses to infection and evaluate novel therapeutic strategies. This position offers outstanding opportunities to conduct high-impact research, publish in leading journals, mentor trainees, and develop independent research projects. The successful candidate will:
• Design, develop, and lead independent and collaborative research projects focused on cellular immunology and host responses to infection.
• Develop and optimize advanced mammalian cell culture systems, including complex 2D and 3D cellular models.
• Perform immunological assays, including flow cytometry, cytokine profiling, ELISA, immunofluorescence microscopy, Western blotting, and immune signaling analyses.
• Conduct molecular biology experiments, including RNA isolation, quantitative PCR, and sequencing library preparation.
• Analyze transcriptomic and other omics datasets in collaboration with bioinformatics teams.
• Interpret experimental data, troubleshoot assays, and optimize laboratory protocols.
• Prepare manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
• Present research findings at scientific meetings.
• Contribute to the preparation of competitive grant proposals.
• Mentor graduate and undergraduate students.
Maintain compliance with institutional biosafety and research regulations.
