Senior Communications Network Technician
Position Summary
This is an ONSITE position located in Washington, D.C.
NCC is seeking a Senior Communications Network Technician to join our team. This role will be responsible for installing, configuring, maintaining, and repairing enterprise data communications infrastructure to support secure and reliable network operations, as well as perform advanced troubleshooting of network connectivity issues, lead installation and maintenance activities. This position will serve as the technical resource for junior technicians, and ensures communications systems meet operational and performance requirements.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Install, configure, maintain, and repair data communications lines, cabling, and network equipment supporting enterprise operations.
- Execute work orders to install, relocate, modify, repair, or remove communications equipment, including modems, network interface cards, cables, and associated hardware.
- Read and interpret technical manuals, engineering drawings, and manufacturer documentation to ensure proper installation and configuration of communications equipment.
- Measure, cut, terminate, splice, and install copper and fiber-optic cabling using industry-standard tools and techniques.
- Connect workstations, servers, terminals, and other devices to enterprise communications networks.
- Develop and execute test plans to validate network connectivity and communications performance using diagnostic and testing equipment, including voltmeters, cable testers, and network analyzers.
- Diagnose and resolve communications infrastructure issues affecting cabling, hardware, and network connectivity.
- Coordinate repairs with maintenance organizations and vendors to ensure timely restoration of communications services.
- Plan and support the layout, installation, and expansion of communications infrastructure.
- Coordinate with telecommunications providers and common carriers to support circuit installations, upgrades, and service requests.
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to junior communications technicians.
- Maintain accurate documentation, work orders, asset records, and service tickets in accordance with established procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- Obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance (must be able to pass a criminal background check & credit check).
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field; or an additional four (4) years of directly related experience in lieu of a degree.
- Minimum of four (4) years of experience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting communications or network infrastructure in an enterprise environment.
- Must maintain at least one applicable industry certification (or equivalent), such as CCNA, CCNP, CCDA, or CCSP.
- Demonstrated experience with enterprise ticketing and IT service management (ITSM) systems.
- Hands-on experience installing, configuring, and repairing communications equipment, including network cabling, modems, switches, routers, patch panels, and related infrastructure.
- Experience using diagnostic tools and testing equipment to identify and resolve network and communications issues.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to serve as a technical lead for junior personnel.
Compensation:
$100,000-$105,000
