Compensation

The base hourly rate for this position is $32.95.

Johns Manville is currently seeking candidates for the position of Industrial Maintenance Technician to be located in our Rockdale, IL Plant. The Rockdale, IL facility manufactures perlite roof insulation board which is a rigid insulation for built up commercial roofs.

About the Role

Johns Manville’s Rockdale facility is seeking a skilled Industrial Maintenance Technician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair manufacturing equipment in a fast-paced industrial environment. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, reliability, and teamwork while supporting continuous production operations.

Safety is our #1 priority, and all maintenance work must be performed in strict compliance with JM safety standards and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, maintain, and repair industrial equipment including conveyors, ovens, motors, pumps, piping systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and controls
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on mechanical and electrical systems
  • Troubleshoot production issues and complete maintenance work orders
  • Support production line changeovers, setup, and equipment installations
  • Perform basic millwright work, fabrication, welding, gas/plasma cutting, and pipefitting
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, drawings, and equipment manuals
  • Operate forklifts, lifts, and material-handling equipment when authorized
  • Use computerized maintenance systems (SAP preferred) for documentation
  • Maintain tools required for the position and ensure proper use of equipment
  • Follow all safety programs including Lockout/Tagout, confined space, hot work, fall protection, and PPE requirements
  • Identify, correct, and report unsafe conditions and participate actively in safety meetings and shift huddles

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 3–4+ years of industrial maintenance experience (mechanical and/or electrical)
  • Manufacturing or heavy industrial environment experience required
  • Working knowledge of:
    • Electrical distribution systems (AC/DC motors, drives)
    • Hydraulics and pneumatics
    • Conveying systems
    • Pumps and piping
    • PLC troubleshooting (preferred)
  • Strong mechanical, electrical, math, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently on night and weekend shifts
  • Comfortable using computers and maintenance software
  • Proven history of working safely in industrial environments
  • Must live within 30 miles of the Rockdale facility for emergency response availability
