The successful applicant will work collaboratively with an outstanding group of engineers and technologists located in Long Beach MS. The successful applicant will become part of a world class team that is a recognized leader in maritime systems development and will support production of advanced electronic systems for the Department of Defense.

As a Manufacturing Line Manager, this role will lead production execution across Defense Maritime programs, with responsibility for resource planning, schedule performance, production flow, and manufacturing readiness for complex, high-reliability maritime hardware and software systems. The position will focus on aligning labor, equipment, materials, and support functions to production demand while identifying bottlenecks, capacity constraints, and opportunities for process improvement. This role will coordinate closely with Planning and Production Control, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Operations, Inventory Control, suppliers, and subcontractors to resolve issues, reduce risk, support on-time customer delivery, and drive a zero-defect quality culture.
THE CHALLENGE (primary responsibilities)
Provide overall production management leadership for complex, high-reliability ocean hardware and software systems within an ISO 9001 environment, ensuring customer requirements are met through innovative, cost-effective, reliable, and production-ready solutions in support of military programs.
Lead production planning and execution for LRIP and/or FRP system production programs, with responsibility for schedule performance, cost awareness, risk management, production readiness, and overall program execution.
Supervise production staff through all phases of the production lifecycle, ensuring clear priorities, accountability, and alignment with program objectives.
Develop and maintain resource plans that align labor, equipment, materials, and support functions to current and forecasted production demand.
Monitor capacity, staffing gaps, overtime requirements, and skill mix needs to ensure production commitments are achievable and risks are identified early.
Ensure technical compliance with contract specifications, customer requirements, company standards, and ISO 9001 quality management processes.
Implement and support systems engineering and production processes consistent with company standards, ISO 9001 requirements, and program execution objectives.
Coordinate closely with Engineering, Quality Assurance, Operations Leads, Inventory Control, and other functional teams to maintain production flow, resolve constraints, and support on-time delivery.
Partner with Quality and Engineering to resolve nonconformances, process gaps, technical issues, and recurring production challenges while driving continuous improvement.
Provide direction and oversight to subcontractors and suppliers, including coordination of material readiness, supplier performance, and development of just-in-time kitting plans.
Ensure customer on-time delivery while promoting a zero-defect quality culture across production operations.
WHAT SETS YOU APART (basic qualifications)
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other related discipline and 4 – 8 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 2 – 6 years of prior relevant experience, with at least 3 years of experience managing production and development of complex systems
Ability to achieve high customer satisfaction within cost and schedule on manufacturing of build-to-print projects
Experience managing program execution in an ISO-9001 certified processes
Strong customer focus, ability to lead a team, and establish strong, collaborative working relationships with government customers, technical staff, senior managers, and peers
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, along with excellent written and oral communication skills
A background in traditional manufacturing process tools including Costpoint or other ERP applications, Windchill PLM applications, and Solumina MES applications
Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD SECRET Security clearance
Understanding of Lean Methodologies/ Elimination of waste.
Demonstrated conflict resolution ability.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Industrial, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering Technology
Experience interfacing and presenting to Navy or Air Force customers
Ability to use metrics to critically assess organization, measure performance, and take corrective action.
Schedule management experience, ability to multitask and meet demanding schedules
Must have demonstrated a consistent record of high performance, with the ability to accept responsibility, exercise authority and be held accountable for assigned tasks
Advanced knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
Proficiency in Microsoft Project
Manufacturing experience in Electrical and/or Mechanical Fabrication
Demonstrated experience in Earned Value Management (EVM) on a Program and reporting Earned Value metrics

Pay Range:
Pay Range $73,450.00 - $132,775.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
