Medical Scheduler

Shelby Township, MI 48315-3129, US Remote Contract
Compensation: $19 to $22 Hourly

We are looking for a Medical Scheduler to support patient access operations in Michigan. This contract opportunity is ideal for someone who can coordinate appointments, verify coverage details, and provide a positive experience for patients throughout the scheduling process. The person in this role will balance accuracy, responsiveness, and a courteous approach while working in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Responsibilities:
• Coordinate new, follow-up, and rescheduled patient visits while ensuring calendar accuracy within the scheduling platform.
• Gather and confirm demographic, insurance, and financial details needed for registration, billing, and payer requirements.
• Review insurance eligibility in real time and explain coverage-related needs such as referrals, prior authorizations, and pre-certification steps.
• Communicate appointment confirmations, visit instructions, and preparation details so patients are ready for scheduled services.
• Manage inbound and outbound patient calls with a service-focused approach that supports access, satisfaction, and continuity of care.
• Record, scan, and maintain registration documentation accurately and in a timely manner according to departmental standards.
• Provide courteous assistance during every interaction and maintain a focused, attentive manner when addressing patient questions or concerns.
• Support additional administrative or patient access tasks as needed to meet operational goals.

Qualifications:

• At least 2 years of experience in a medical office, patient scheduling, or healthcare access role.
• Background working with third-party insurance, managed care processes, and medical terminology.
• Familiarity with coding references such as ICD-10 and standard healthcare registration workflows.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word, Outlook, and electronic scheduling or eligibility verification systems.
• Ability to interpret insurance responses, review detailed information carefully, and explain requirements clearly to patients.
• Strong multitasking, critical thinking, and organizational skills in a changing, high-volume environment.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills with a consistent, courteous, and patient-focused approach.
• Capability to work independently while collaborating constructively with internal teams and external contacts.

Compensation

$19.00-$22.00 Hourly
