District Accountant
Responsibilities:
• Prepare monthly financial statements and variance analyses that compare budgeted results with actual performance.
• Maintain accounting documentation and financial records in accordance with established accounting standards, policies, and procedures.
• Manage reporting timelines to ensure all recurring and periodic financial deliverables are completed on schedule.
• Oversee the full accounts payable process, including reviewing invoices, coordinating approvals, and supporting vendor payment inquiries.
• Administer accounts receivable activities by issuing accurate billings, monitoring collections, and reconciling outstanding balances.
• Support month-end and year-end close activities to help ensure complete, accurate, and timely financial reporting.
• Investigate and resolve account variances, discrepancies, and other irregular transactions affecting the general ledger.
• Assist with budget planning, tracking, and ongoing financial monitoring to support operational decision-making.
• Coordinate audit preparation efforts by organizing supporting schedules and responding to auditor requests.
• Communicate with property owners regarding assessment-related accounting matters and provide additional accounting support as needed.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university.• At least 3 years of accounting experience, preferably within property accounting, government, or other services environments.
• Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and standard financial reporting practices.
• Familiarity with audit procedures and the preparation of supporting documentation for annual audits.
• Experience managing general ledger activity, month-end close, and financial statement preparation.
• Ability to handle both accounts payable and accounts receivable processes with accuracy and timeliness.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify, research, and resolve accounting issues effectively.
Compensation
