Staff Accountant

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support core accounting operations in Charleston, South Carolina. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing routine accounting entries, and helping ensure timely reporting across the organization. The ideal candidate brings a solid understanding of general ledger activity and experience working with grant-related accounting requirements.

Responsibilities:
• Prepare and post journal entries to maintain complete and accurate financial records.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies to support month-end and year-end close activities.
• Track grant-related financial activity and help ensure expenditures align with funding requirements and reporting standards.
• Assist with the preparation of internal financial reports by compiling account data and supporting documentation.
• Monitor account balances, review transactions for accuracy, and correct coding issues when needed.
• Support audits and compliance reviews by organizing records and responding to documentation requests.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• Experience in a staff accountant or similar accounting role.

• Working knowledge of journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger processes.

• Familiarity with grant accounting and grant management practices.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities accurately.

• Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.

• Effective written and verbal communication skills.

$60,000.00-$65,000.00 Yearly
