Accounts Payable Manager

Houston, TX 77040, US Full Time
Compensation: $100 to $125 Yearly

Our client is hiring for an experienced Accounts Payable Manager to oversee a high-volume payables operation for a publicly traded organization in Houston, Texas. This position is suited for a hands-on leader who can strengthen controls, improve performance through meaningful metrics, and guide a team in a fast-moving environment. The role also plays a key part in advancing process efficiency through automation, AI-driven improvements, and finance system enhancements.


Responsibilities for the Accounts Payable Manager

• Direct the daily workflow of the accounts payable function, ensuring invoices and vendor payments are completed accurately and within required timelines.

• Lead, coach, and support supervisors and team members to build a strong, accountable, and service-oriented AP organization.

• Uphold a disciplined control framework by enforcing company policies and supporting compliance with public company requirements.

• Create, monitor, and communicate key performance indicators and operational reporting to drive efficiency, accuracy, and service improvements.

• Evaluate existing procedures, identify gaps, and implement practical process enhancements that increase scalability and reduce manual effort.

• Contribute to automation efforts, AI-related initiatives, and finance system implementations or upgrades tied to the AP function.

• Work closely with procurement, operations, and accounting partners to resolve invoice exceptions, payment concerns, and supplier-related issues.

• Develop productive relationships with internal stakeholders and external vendors to improve responsiveness, communication, and overall service delivery.


Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline is required.

• Demonstrated experience managing accounts payable in a high-volume processing environment is required.

• Background supporting a publicly traded company with strong knowledge of SOX controls, audit readiness, and compliance expectations.

• Proven ability to build and manage KPI reporting, dashboards, and performance metrics for an AP organization.

• Experience leading process improvement efforts, automation projects, AI initiatives, and system-related changes within finance operations.

• Strong leadership capability with a track record of developing teams and guiding employees through change.

• Advanced analytical, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, including advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency.

• Experience with enterprise and cloud-based spend management platforms such as Coupa or Concur is highly valued.

$100,000.00-$125,000.00 Yearly
