Accounting Manager

We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to support a non-profit organization in Massachusetts through a contract opportunity with permanent potential. This role will oversee core accounting operations, maintain accurate financial records, and help ensure timely and reliable reporting. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge and a hands-on approach to managing close activities, reconciliations, and audit preparation.

Responsibilities:
• Direct monthly closing activities to ensure financial results are completed accurately and on schedule.
• Manage the general ledger by reviewing transactions, maintaining account integrity, and resolving discrepancies.
• Prepare and approve journal entries with proper supporting documentation and adherence to accounting standards.
• Perform detailed account reconciliations and investigate outstanding items to keep records current and accurate.
• Support financial statement audit activities by organizing schedules, responding to requests, and coordinating required documentation.
• Monitor day-to-day accounting operations and recommend process improvements that strengthen efficiency and internal control.
• Partner with internal stakeholders to provide financial information, clarify accounting issues, and support reporting needs.

Qualifications:

• Demonstrated experience leading month-end close in an accounting environment with strong attention to detail.
• Strong working knowledge of general ledger management and core accounting processes.
• Hands-on experience preparing journal entries and reviewing supporting documentation for accuracy.
• Proven ability to complete account reconciliations and analyze variances or unresolved balances.
• Familiarity with financial statement audit support, including audit schedules and request management.
• Solid understanding of accounting principles and attention to detail in financial reporting.
• Ability to work independently while managing priorities in a contract assignment with potential for a long-term opportunity.

Compensation

$33.00-$45.00 Hourly
