Sr. Accountant

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to join a government contracting organization for a fully remote opportunity in the DC area. This contract opportunity has the potential to become permanent and is well suited for a hands-on, detail-oriented accounting specialist who can bring strong technical expertise to daily financial operations and period-end reporting. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working across the general ledger, supporting compliance-focused accounting activities, and using Deltek Costpoint in a deadline-driven environment.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with monthly and year-end close activities by preparing schedules, reviewing balances, and ensuring financial records are completed accurately and on time.

• Prepare and post journal entries, maintaining well-supported documentation and alignment with accounting policies.

• Manage general ledger activity by analyzing transactions, correcting discrepancies, and preserving the integrity of financial data.

• Complete account reconciliations on a recurring basis, resolving variances promptly and escalating issues when needed.

• Perform bank reconciliations and investigate outstanding items to maintain accurate cash reporting.

• Support accounts payable processes by reviewing transactions, assisting with issue resolution, and helping ensure proper coding and approval flow.

• Use Deltek Costpoint to record, monitor, and report accounting activity in support of government contracting requirements.

• Contribute to governmental accounting and compliance efforts by helping maintain records and financial practices that meet contract and reporting standards.

Qualifications:

• Demonstrated experience in a Senior Accountant or similar accounting role.
• Strong background in month-end close, including journal entry preparation and balance sheet reconciliation.
• Solid understanding of general ledger accounting and financial statement support.
• Hands-on experience completing bank reconciliations and resolving account variances.
• Working knowledge of accounts payable processes and transaction review.
• Proficiency with Deltek Costpoint in a government contracting environment.
• Familiarity with governmental accounting practices and compliance expectations.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently in a fast-paced setting.

Compensation

$35.63-$41.25 Hourly
