Attorney/Lawyer

A California plaintiff-side employment and labor law firm is seeking an Attorney to join its team on a contract-to-hire basis. This is a fully remote opportunity with the potential for permanent conversion based on performance, business needs, and mutual fit. The firm is open-minded regarding candidate backgrounds and is seeking an attorney interested in handling Industrial Disability Retirement (IDR) matters, labor matters, or a blend of both. This role offers the opportunity to develop experience in a unique practice area while working alongside a collaborative team dedicated to representing employees and public-sector workers.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of Industrial Disability Retirement (IDR) and/or labor law matters
• Handle IDR applications and related proceedings, including matters involving medical records and expert testimony
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, legal memoranda, and client correspondence
• Conduct legal research and analyze case strategy
• Review employment, personnel, and medical records
• Communicate with clients regarding case status, strategy, and developments
• Collaborate with attorneys and staff to move matters efficiently toward resolution

Qualifications:

Qualifications

• Active California Bar membership in good standing
• Prior litigation, administrative law, employment law, labor law, workers' compensation, public sector, or other relevant legal experience welcomed
• Strong legal research, writing, and advocacy skills
• Ability to independently manage assignments and deadlines in a remote environment
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
• Interest in developing expertise in labor and/or Industrial Disability Retirement matters
• Self-motivated with a collaborative and client-focused approach
