Description:

DDC is currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Defense Red Switch Network (DRSN) Technician to join our team supporting operations at Fort Meade, Maryland. This position offers the opportunity to play a vital role in maintaining and sustaining secure communications systems that are essential to national defense operations.

The DRSN Technician is responsible for the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and modernization of Defense Red Switch Network infrastructure supporting mission-critical communications. The successful candidate will ensure system reliability through proactive maintenance, rapid issue identification and resolution, and compliance with applicable security and operational standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily operations and maintenance activities for a complex Defense Red Switch Network (DRSN) system located at Fort Meade, MD.
  • Conduct daily operational checks and inspections of DRSN equipment and systems to ensure optimal performance and availability.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and report operational issues within one hour of discovery.
  • Prepare and submit outage reports and related operational documentation.
  • Diagnose, repair, replace, install, and maintain communications and network equipment.
  • Perform operation and maintenance activities for Common Computing Security Standards (CCSS) hardware and software.
  • Conduct maintenance activities at DISA Headquarters facilities on equipment connected to the switch and switch extension devices up to the designated demarcation point.
  • Execute Preventive Maintenance Inspections (PMIs) to ensure system readiness and reliability.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and technical documentation.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts and recommend solutions to enhance system performance and operational effectiveness.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned in support of program objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance with a Counterintelligence (CI) Polygraph.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience supporting telecommunications, network infrastructure, or DRSN-related systems.
  • Strong understanding of DRSN architecture, network protocols, telecommunications systems, and peripheral equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills with the ability to make sound decisions in mission-critical environments.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to convey technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience supporting DISA communications infrastructure and secure government networks.
  • Familiarity with Department of Defense telecommunications and security standards.
