Overview

Lutron Electronics is seeking a Standards & Regulatory Affairs professional to help shape the future of lighting controls, automated shading, and intelligent building technologies through active participation and leadership in standards development, regulatory engagement, and industry advocacy.  In this highly visible role, you will represent Lutron with standards organizations, industry groups, and regulatory bodies, influencing codes, standards, and policies that impact the built environment and support innovation, market access, and business growth. Responsibilities include influencing standards and regulatory developments, monitoring global changes, and communicating impacts to internal stakeholders.

 

The position will focus on advancing Lutron’s strategy in standards and regulations related to lighting, motorized shades, and building management systems, while supporting global advocacy efforts and driving opportunities within building codes and performance standards.



Responsibilities

  • Represent Lutron in national and international standards, regulatory, industry, and government forums, while developing and maintaining relationships with key standards organizations, industry associations, regulators, and government stakeholders to advance Lutron's strategic interests.
  • Lead advocacy efforts and influence standards, codes, and regulations that support innovation, customer needs, and long-term business growth.
  • Identify emerging standards and regulatory trends, assess business impact, and communicate updates to internal cross-functional stakeholders to ensure organizational readiness and support proactive business strategies.
  • Operate in alignment with Lutron’s culture and values.
  • Partner with Engineering, Product Management, Legal, and Business leaders to evaluate regulatory developments and influence future product and technology roadmaps.


Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in a standards development, regulatory affairs, industry relations or a related technical field.
  • Minimum, cumulative GPA of 3.00 for each degree earnedOR 10+ years of professional experience post academics.
  • Experience in electronics industries such as lighting controls, motorized/automated shading systems, building automation systems, smart building technologies, or related electronic control systems.
  • 20% - 25% travel is required, including industry committee meetings and visits to Lutron locations. 
  • Experience participating in standards development organizations (e.g., ANSI, UL, NEMA, ASHRAE, IEEE, IEC, ISO, NFPA).
  • Experience influencing building codes, standards, or regulatory policy and working with industry associations, regulators, or government agencies.
  • Experience building consensus among diverse stakeholder groups, with knowledge of smart buildings, energy efficiency, sustainability, or building automation technologies.
  • You are authorized to work in the U.S. and will not require Lutron to sponsor you for any work visa, such as an H-1B, either immediately or at any time in the future. Lutron does not offer work visa sponsorship for this position.
