Responsibilities

At SAM, you'll play a key role in transforming aerial imagery and LiDAR into high-quality geospatial products that support critical infrastructure projects across the country. In this role, you'll focus on processing, editing, and quality controlling aerial imagery and imagery-based mapping products while collaborating with experienced geospatial professionals. This is an excellent opportunity to build advanced technical skills, work with industry-leading software, and contribute to innovative aerial mapping solutions.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in processing geospatial datasets by evaluating data accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable project and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with project teams to support the timely delivery of high-quality mapping products.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn new technologies, software, and geospatial workflows while contributing to continuous process improvement.
  • Process raw aerial imagery into accurate, high-quality geospatial products, including orthophotos and other imagery-based deliverables.
  • Edit imagery for a variety of products, including aerial orthophotos, oblique/right-of-way (ROW) imagery, and high-resolution visual and thermal imagery.
  • Perform image rectification, georeferencing, mosaicking, and quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry accuracy standards.
  • Utilize MicroStation and other production software to edit LiDAR-derived DEM/DTM surfaces to support accurate image rectification.
  • Process and organize raw imagery and geospatial data, including data intake, management, and production workflows.
  • Utilize proprietary and commercial software to organize imagery and associate deliverables with client-provided assets.
  • Learn to classify LiDAR point clouds and compile mapping features from LiDAR and orthophotography under the guidance of experienced team members.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications



  • Strong interest in aerial mapping, remote sensing, photogrammetry, and geospatial technologies.
  • Strong computer and technical skills with the ability to quickly learn new software and workflows.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work.
  • Strong work ethic, accountability, and a collaborative team-oriented mindset.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with any of the following is preferred:
    • MicroStation (highly preferred)
    • TerraSolid (highly preferred)
    • Photogrammetry software and imagery processing workflows
    • Orthophotography production
    • Image rectification, mosaicking, and georeferencing
    • LiDAR point cloud processing and classification
    • Mapping from aerial imagery or LiDAR
    • Digital Elevation Models (DEM) and Digital Terrain Models (DTM)
    • CAD
    • GIS
    • Photoshop
    • FLIR or other thermal imagery analysis software
    • Electric transmission or utility mapping experience
