About the Job
Logistics is seeking a hard-working, dependable, and motivated team member to join their team. The primary responsibility of the International Import Specialist is to work closely with our direct sourcing group, freight forwarders, international carriers and our international customs broker to closely monitor and execute international shipments into the US and delivery to the Distribution Centers located throughout the US. In addition, this will require working with internal stakeholders in various departments including our internal merchandise accounting and accounts payable teams for prompt processing of all international and domestic shipping documents and invoices.
What You’ll Do | Key Accountabilities
- Provide world class customer service to all internal and external customers
- Obtain and process all international shipping documentation for accuracy and prepare documents for submission to merchandise accounting
- Reviewing shipping documents such as bills of lading, manifests, and other paperwork to ensure that they conform to CBP regulations
- File all required documentation and further backup for international shipments as required
- Audit and code all freight invoices, both paper and electronic for international and domestic shipments
- Retrieve and collect international freight invoices and ensure all backup documentation is submitted to the merchandise accounting team for processing in accordance with our agreed upon terms
- Monitor and manage WIP reporting for garments and fabric with up to date information and ensure systems are updated accordingly (Transportation Management System and Bamboo Rose)
- Monitor the bookings logistic email group and respond as necessary to received emails for booking ocean/air freight
- Coordinate with shipping forwarders to obtain and update the shipment tracking information
- Communicating with customs brokers and other individuals involved in international shipping to ensure that all documentation is accurate
- Coordinate with trucking companies to pickup cargo from ocean ports, air cargo terminals and rail ramps.
- Communicate with merchandise buyers and direct sourcing team, TMW/KNG/JAB/MSP, to accurately schedule inbound international retail and tuxedo merchandise for delivery to the appropriate distribution center to meet production goals
- Receive incoming calls from vendors and internal stakeholders in a timely and professional manner for routing instructions and other assistance
- Update Distribution Systems, Bamboo Rose and TMS with updated ETA’s required for visibility of inbound merchandise to the Distribution Centers located in Houston, TX and Hampstead, MD and Cambridge, CA
- Perform various tasks as assigned by management
Skills & Experience
- Have familiarity with MBOL, AWB, ISF, BOL, CI documents and other international related documents
- Have familiarity with custom documents for auditing and compliance from shipping factories
- Be familiar with Incoterms for international freight
- Ability to take initiative and work independently or with team members to accomplish defined goals in a fast-paced distribution warehouse environment
- Ability to visualize, prioritize and multi-task, dependable and reliable
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and good command of the English language
- Demonstrate a sense of urgency to meet customer time commitments
- Excellent telephone etiquette skills required
- Intermediate to advance PC skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to prioritize and organize work related tasks
- Flexibility and ability to follow instructions is a must
- Ability to maintain a high level of performance, detailed and deadline oriented
- Ability to learn new skills and take on additional job responsibilities as required
- Must have the ability to communicate effectively with management and all levels within the organization
- Ability to be flexible and adapt to a changing environment which may include increased hours, volume of work, shifting priorities, multiple demands, staffing shortages
Reporting – Working Relationships
· Reports directly to the Logistics management team
Work Environment, Physical & Mental Demands
· Ability to sit and work at a computer keyboard for extended periods of time.
· Ability to stoop, kneel, bend at the waist, and reach on a daily basis.
· Able to lift and move up to 25 pounds occasionally.
· Must utilize visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate a computer and office equipment.
· Hours regularly 40 hours per week, as work dictates, from our Houston Texas distribution center.
