About the Job
Logistics is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented, and motivated team member to join the team. The International Customs Compliance Specialist is responsible for supporting the compliant and timely import of merchandise into the United States by working closely with direct sourcing, freight forwarders, carriers, customs brokers, and internal business partners. This role focuses on import documentation accuracy, customs compliance, shipment visibility, and coordination of delivery to Tailored Brands distribution centers. The position also partners with merchandise accounting and accounts payable to support the prompt processing of freight documentation and invoices while helping ensure import records are complete, accurate, and audit ready.


What You’ll Do | Key Accountabilities
  • Provide world-class customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Review, validate, and process international shipping and customs documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with CBP requirements.
  • Support the timely preparation, collection, and retention of required import documents, including commercial invoices, bills of lading, air waybills, packing lists, ISF-related information, and other shipment records.
  • Work closely with customs brokers, freight forwarders, carriers, and factories to resolve document discrepancies and support timely customs clearance.
  • Maintain organized import files and supporting documentation in accordance with company procedures and compliance requirements.
  • Assist with pre-entry and post-entry documentation review to help ensure shipment data is accurate and complete.
  • Support customs compliance activities by identifying missing or inconsistent information and escalating issues when needed.
  • Audit, code, and process broker invoices for international shipments including Canada, ensuring appropriate backup documentation is submitted for payment.
  • Retrieve and compile customs broker invoices and supporting records for submission to merchandise accounting in accordance with established terms.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to calls and emails from vendors and internal business partners regarding compliance with supported documents
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

 
Skills & Experience
  • Familiarity with international shipping and customs documents and related import records.
  • Working knowledge of import compliance requirements, document review, and audit support processes.
  • Familiarity with Incoterms and their impact on international freight movement and documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced distribution environment.
  • 2-3 years’ experience with import compliance, brokerage, or international logistics.
  • Relevant customs, import, or trade compliance certifications are a plus, such as Licensed Customs Broker, CCS, CES, or similar industry credentials.
  • Strong prioritization and multitasking skills with a high sense of urgency.
  • Flexibility to adapt to change priorities, increased volume, and staffing needs
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong command of the English language.
  • Professional phone and email etiquette.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook skills.
  • Ability to learn new systems, processes, and job responsibilities as business needs evolve.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with management and employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities, increased volume, and staffing needs.
  • Reliable, dependable, and deadline-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy.

 Reporting – Working Relationships
·      Reports directly to the Logistics management team 
 
Work Environment, Physical & Mental Demands
·      Ability to sit and work at a computer keyboard for extended periods of time.
·      Ability to stoop, kneel, bend at the waist, and reach on a daily basis.
·      Able to lift and move up to 25 pounds occasionally.
·      Must utilize visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate a computer and office equipment.
·      Hours regularly 40 hours per week, as work dictates, from our Houston Texas distribution center.
