Sr. Accountant

University Place, WA 98466, US Remote Temporary
Compensation: $31.66 to $36.66 Hourly

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to support core accounting operations for a Long-term Contract position based in University Place, Washington. This role will play a key part in maintaining accurate financial records, overseeing close activities, and ensuring account balances are properly supported. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.

Responsibilities:
• Lead monthly closing activities by preparing schedules, reviewing financial data, and helping ensure timely and accurate reporting.
• Maintain the general ledger by recording, reviewing, and validating financial transactions across assigned accounts.
• Prepare and post journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation and a high level of accuracy.
• Perform detailed account reconciliations to identify discrepancies, resolve outstanding items, and preserve balance sheet integrity.
• Complete bank reconciliations on a recurring basis and investigate variances between cash records and bank activity.
• Analyze accounting data and provide clear explanations for fluctuations, adjustments, and unusual account activity.
• Support audit readiness by organizing records, maintaining documentation, and responding to requests for financial support.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to improve accounting workflows and uphold compliance with established policies and controls.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience working in a senior-level accounting role with responsibility for core general ledger functions.
• Hands-on expertise with month-end close processes, including preparation of entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting and the ability to maintain accurate financial records.
• Demonstrated experience preparing journal entries and reviewing supporting documentation for completeness and accuracy.
• Solid background in account reconciliation, including researching and resolving discrepancies.
• Practical experience completing bank reconciliations and analyzing cash-related variances.
• High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation

$31.66-$36.66 Hourly
