Staff Accountant

We are looking for a Staff Accountant to join a growing team in Wilmington, North Carolina in a Contract to permanent capacity. This onsite position is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting specialist who can adapt quickly, manage shifting priorities, and keep critical financial processes moving efficiently. The role centers on accounts receivable, billing accuracy, payroll support, and core accounting activities, while contributing to reliable reporting and day-to-day financial operations.

Responsibilities:
• Manage accounts receivable activities, including preparing and issuing accurate invoices within established deadlines.
• Support job costing efforts by tracking financial data and helping ensure project-related expenses are recorded correctly.
• Process payroll for a workforce of approximately 60 employees, including coordination of timekeeping records and contract labor hours.
• Prepare and post journal entries while maintaining the accuracy of the general ledger.
• Assist with sales tax and corporate tax-related tasks, including documentation and support for filings and returns.
• Review accounting transactions for completeness and follow up on discrepancies to maintain clean financial records.
• Use Excel and Dynamics 365 to organize data, generate reports, and support daily accounting workflows.
• Collaborate with internal team members in an onsite environment to respond to changing priorities and keep accounting operations on track.

Qualifications:

• Experience in a Staff Accountant or similar accounting role with hands-on responsibility for daily financial operations.
• Strong background in accounts receivable, billing, and general ledger maintenance.
• Working knowledge of journal entries, account reconciliation, and job costing principles.
• Experience supporting payroll processes, preferably in environments with hourly employees or contract labor.
• Familiarity with corporate tax, sales tax, and corporate tax return support activities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting systems such as Dynamics 365.
• Ability to stay organized, work with urgency, and adapt effectively in a fast-paced onsite setting.

Compensation

$26.60-$30.80 Hourly
