Tax Manager - Public

Compensation: $100 to $125 Yearly

We are looking for an experienced Tax Manager to join a growing public accounting practice in Tennessee. This role is ideal for a collaborative leader who enjoys guiding staff, strengthening client relationships, and overseeing complex tax engagements with a high standard of quality. You will play a key role in shaping team performance, delivering thoughtful tax guidance, and supporting the continued growth of the practice.

Responsibilities:
• Lead, mentor, and develop tax team members through day-to-day coaching, technical instruction, and performance-focused guidance.
• Review business and individual tax filings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance while personally handling more advanced or specialized returns.
• Partner with internal service teams to provide coordinated support that addresses client tax, accounting, and broader business needs.
• Advise clients on complex tax matters, explain regulatory considerations clearly, and identify practical strategies that may improve tax outcomes.
• Assign work across the team effectively, monitor progress, and deliver constructive feedback that supports both quality and career growth.
• Contribute to practice growth by participating in client discussions, supporting proposal development, and recognizing opportunities to expand services.
• Strengthen operational effectiveness by recommending and implementing workflow improvements that enhance efficiency and reduce unnecessary strain on the team.
• Help establish and reinforce departmental standards, policies, and best practices that support consistent service delivery and strong client satisfaction.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• Active CPA license in good standing is required.
• 6-8 years of tax experience within public accounting.
• 3-4 years of experience leading staff, supervising engagements, and reviewing tax work.
• Hands-on experience with both business and individual tax matters.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks, Microsoft Office, databases, and tax software including CCH Axcess; experience with Autoflow and CCH Workflow is preferred.
• Familiarity with Karbon is a strong advantage.
• Strong organization, communication, and leadership skills with the ability to succeed in a deadline-driven environment and embrace continuous improvement.

Compensation

$100,000.00-$125,000.00 Yearly
