Payroll & Benefits Manager- Goodhue, MN

Compensation: $55 to $70 Hourly

We are looking for a Payroll & Benefits Manager to support payroll operations and employee benefits administration for a Contract position based in Goodhue, Minnesota. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who can guide a small team, maintain accuracy across payroll and deductions, and uphold strong compliance standards in a multi-state environment. The successful candidate will bring sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate clearly with employees, brokers, vendors, and internal stakeholders.


Responsibilities:

• Lead daily administration of employee benefit programs, ensuring enrollments, changes, and deductions are handled accurately and on schedule.

• Serve as a primary resource for employees by explaining benefit options, supporting employee enrollment, and addressing questions throughout the year.

• Review and reconcile benefit billing each month, investigate discrepancies, and coordinate corrections with external partners as needed.

• Partner with benefit brokers and vendors to resolve service issues, clarify coverage matters, and maintain smooth program administration.

• Direct payroll operations by supervising payroll staff and compliance support personnel to ensure timely and precise processing.

• Monitor payroll practices across all operating states to maintain adherence to applicable wage, tax, and reporting requirements.

• Oversee compliance activities tied to prevailing wage obligations and required tracking processes, including related workforce reporting.

• Support regulatory and contract-related labor compliance efforts, including apprenticeship tracking, subcontractor reporting, and equity-related workforce standards.


Qualifications:

• At least 5 years of experience in payroll processing and benefits administration.
• Minimum of 3 years in a people leadership or supervisory capacity.
• Proven experience with prevailing wage compliance and required tracking processes.
• Strong knowledge of multi-state payroll regulations and payroll compliance practices.
• Proficiency with payroll and HR systems, including ADP Workforce Now and related accounting or audit tools.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a high level of accuracy.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively across teams and external partners.

Compensation

$55.00-$70.00 Hourly
