Hospital Medical Biller Collector

Compensation: $26 to $32 Hourly

We are looking for an experienced Hospital Medical Biller Collector to support a healthcare organization’s revenue cycle operations in Los Angeles, California. This contract position with permanent potential is ideal for someone who understands hospital insurance follow-up, knows how to work complex outstanding claims, and can drive timely reimbursement through accurate research and persistent payer communication. The person in this role will play an important part in reducing aged receivables, addressing claim barriers, and partnering with internal teams to improve payment outcomes.

Responsibilities:
• Pursue follow-up activities on unpaid and underpaid hospital insurance claims, with particular attention to major commercial and government payer accounts.
• Review UB04 claim details for accuracy and take action to correct billing issues that may delay or prevent reimbursement.
• Analyze denials, rejected claims, partial payments, and stalled accounts to identify root causes and move balances toward resolution.
• Prepare and submit corrected claims, reconsiderations, and appeal documentation to support payment recovery.
• Manage aging accounts receivable by prioritizing outstanding balances and maintaining production standards established by the department.
• Record account activity, payer responses, and collection progress thoroughly within the billing platform.
• Work closely with billing, coding, and patient financial services partners to resolve discrepancies affecting claim payment.
• Track recurring payer behavior and elevate persistent reimbursement issues when broader action is needed.

Qualifications:

• At least 3 years of experience in medical insurance collections, healthcare accounts receivable, or insurance follow-up.
• Prior background in hospital billing or hospital-based collections is required.
• Hands-on experience working with UB04 claims in a hospital environment.
• Strong understanding of payer rules, reimbursement practices, and follow-up procedures across insurance plans.
• Demonstrated ability to handle denials, appeals, corrected claims, and payment research effectively.
• High attention to detail with the ability to stay organized while managing a large volume of accounts.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills paired with sound problem-solving ability.
• Familiarity with hospital billing applications and electronic medical record systems is preferred.

Compensation

$26.00-$32.00 Hourly
