Accounting Manager

We are looking for an Accounting Manager to join a long-term contract assignment in Santa Barbara, California. This role will play a key part in period-end accounting activities, with an emphasis on inventory-related reporting, cost analysis, and accurate financial close support. The position is well suited for someone who is detail oriented and can balance detailed reconciliations with broader accounting oversight in a dynamic operating environment.

Responsibilities:
• Lead monthly and year-end close activities related to cost accounting, ensuring inventory movements and related financial impacts are recorded accurately.
• Reconcile inventory balances and evaluate reserve levels to support reliable valuation and reporting.
• Manage accounting treatment for capitalized costs and purchase price variance activity in accordance with established accounting policies.
• Execute cost accounting processes within Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and maintain the integrity of related financial data.
• Partner effectively within a co-manufacturing operating model to ensure accounting reflects outsourced production activity appropriately.
• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules tied to the general ledger and close process.
• Assist with audit-ready documentation and provide support for financial statement audit requests connected to inventory and cost accounts.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience leading or supporting month-end close in an accounting environment.
• Strong background in general ledger management, journal entry preparation, and account reconciliation.
• Hands-on expertise in cost accounting, including inventory analysis and reserve review.
• Experience reconciling inventory and addressing valuation-related accounting matters.
• Working knowledge of purchase price variance accounting and capitalization practices.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
• Ability to support financial statement audits with clear documentation and accurate reporting.

Compensation

$57.00-$66.00 Hourly
