Tax Manager - Public
Responsibilities:
• Oversee the preparation and final review of federal, state, and local tax filings for individuals, corporations, partnerships, trusts, and tax-exempt organizations to ensure complete and accurate submissions.
• Design practical tax planning approaches that help reduce exposure, improve efficiency, and support client objectives throughout the year.
• Monitor updates to tax laws and regulatory guidance, evaluate how changes affect clients, and translate findings into clear recommendations and technical documentation.
• Lead responses to tax notices, examinations, and audits by coordinating with external parties and maintaining organized support throughout the process.
• Supervise tax team members and operational staff by assigning work, reviewing performance, and providing coaching that supports growth and accountability.
• Maintain detailed tax records, workpapers, and internal reports for leadership review, ensuring documentation is thorough and audit-ready.
• Partner with internal teams and clients to resolve complex tax questions, clarify filing requirements, and support timely decision-making.
• Use tax and accounting systems to manage workflows, complete filings, and improve the consistency and quality of deliverables.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline.• At least 5 years of experience in public accounting or tax management, including work with individual, corporate, partnership, fiduciary, and exempt entity returns.
• Strong command of federal, state, and local tax rules and compliance standards.
• Demonstrated experience preparing or reviewing corporate, federal, individual, partnership, sales, and trust tax returns.
• Proficiency with Lacerte, QuickBooks Desktop, QuickBooks Online, Slack, Canopy Tax, Zoom, Webex, Adobe, and Microsoft Office tools.
• Excellent analytical skills with a high level of accuracy and sound judgment when handling complex tax matters.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work well across teams and with a diverse client base.
Compensation
