Position Title: Senior Project Manager Physical Infrastructure & Technology Systems
Overview
VectorUSA is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of complex physical infrastructure and technology projects. The primary focus of this role is the management of physical layer infrastructure, including structured cabling systems, fiber optic networks, copper cabling, pathways, telecommunications spaces, and outside plant infrastructure. In addition, the ideal candidate will possess strong project management experience delivering integrated technology solutions including IP surveillance, electronic access control, wireless networking, and enterprise IT infrastructure.
The Senior Project Manager is responsible for the overall planning, execution, financial performance, quality, and successful completion of assigned projects. This individual will lead projects from pre-construction through closeout while ensuring delivery on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contractual requirements and client expectations.
The successful candidate must possess exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, coordinate cross-functional teams, and build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders. This role requires a proactive leader capable of identifying and mitigating project risks while maintaining a relentless focus on safety, quality, customer satisfaction, and financial performance.
The Senior Project Manager serves as the primary point of contact for assigned projects and is fully accountable for project scope, schedule, cost, quality, risk management, procurement coordination, and stakeholder communications.
What Your Typical Day Will Be
- Lead all phases of the project lifecycle including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, controlling, and project closeout.
- Manage large, complex physical infrastructure projects involving structured cabling, fiber optic systems, telecommunications infrastructure, pathways, data centers, and outside plant construction.
- Manage integrated technology projects involving IP surveillance systems, electronic access control, wireless infrastructure, and enterprise networking.
- Review and interpret RFPs, RFQs, Statements of Work, contract documents, specifications, engineering drawings, and construction documents.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive project schedules utilizing Microsoft Project, including Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), resource loading, critical path analysis, milestones, and baseline management.
- Develop project execution plans, staffing plans, procurement strategies, and project budgets.
- Monitor project financial performance including forecasting, earned value, labor productivity, cost-to-complete, margin protection, and change management.
- Lead internal project kickoff meetings and client kickoff meetings.
- Facilitate recurring project status meetings with clients, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
- Establish project expectations, communication plans, governance standards, and escalation procedures.
- Manage subcontractors, suppliers, field personnel, and technical resources to ensure successful project execution.
- Proactively identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Manage project scope, negotiate changes, prepare change orders, and maintain contract compliance.
- Ensure compliance with customer requirements, company standards, applicable codes, and industry best practices.
- Deliver projects that consistently meet quality standards, schedule commitments, financial objectives, and customer expectations.
- Mentor junior Project Managers and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the PMO.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What You Bring to the Table
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of military, technical, and industry experience.
- 7+ years of progressively responsible Project Management experience, including management of medium to large technology infrastructure projects.
- Demonstrated expertise managing physical layer infrastructure including:
- Structured cabling systems
- Fiber optic infrastructure
- Copper cabling systems
- Telecommunications pathways and spaces
- Outside plant construction
- Data center infrastructure
- Additional experience managing one or more of the following:
- Electronic Access Control Systems
- IP Video Surveillance Systems
- Enterprise Wireless Networks
- LAN/WAN infrastructure
- Network switching and routing
- IT infrastructure deployments
- Strong understanding of construction project management principles, scheduling methodologies, procurement, estimating, subcontract administration, and contract management.
- Advanced knowledge of project controls including scheduling, forecasting, budget management, earned value concepts, risk management, and change management.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple concurrent projects ranging from several hundred thousand dollars to multi-million-dollar programs.
- Strong client-facing skills with experience managing executive-level customer relationships.
- Excellent leadership, negotiation, communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
- Strong financial acumen with experience managing project profitability and forecasting.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Project.
- Experience with ERP, project management, and construction management platforms such as Procore, FileMaker, or similar systems is preferred.
- Ability to travel as required to customer sites throughout assigned regions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification (Highly Preferred)
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related discipline.
- Experience managing Federal, State, Local Government, Education, Healthcare, Aviation, or Critical Infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of BICSI standards and structured cabling best practices.
- Familiarity with manufacturers such as Cisco, Aruba, Juniper, Verkada, Genetec, LenelS2, Software House, Bosch, Avigilon, HID, or similar enterprise technology platforms.
- Industry certifications including BICSI, Cisco, Aruba, CompTIA, or manufacturer-specific certifications are considered a plus.
