Job Summary
The Industrial Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems, industrial machinery, and related equipment. This position ensures electrical systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable electrical codes, contract requirements, and company safety standards. The successful candidate will diagnose equipment failures, perform preventive maintenance, and support facility operations through quality electrical repairs and installations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems, equipment, and industrial machinery.
- Install power supply wiring, conduit, and electrical raceways for new and existing equipment.
- Connect electrical power, wiring, and control systems to machinery, conveyors, programmable controllers (PLCs), motors, and other industrial equipment.
- Diagnose electrical malfunctions involving transformers, motors, lighting systems, control circuits, and electrical distribution equipment.
- Repair or replace damaged wiring, cables, relays, switches, contactors, motors, sensors, and other electrical components.
- Troubleshoot and replace faulty printed circuit boards and electronic control components.
- Replace electric motor bearings and perform motor rewinding as required.
- Plan, install, and modify electrical wiring, conduit, panels, and electrical apparatus in commercial and industrial facilities.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components associated with industrial equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance inspections and identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete work orders in a timely manner.
- Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and applicable electrical codes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate degree or two-year technical certificate in Electrical Technology or a related field; or
- Equivalent combination of education, training, and related work experience.
- All applicable state, federal, and contract-required licenses or certifications.
- Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, motors, controls, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and technical documentation.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Valid driver's license may be required depending on contract requirements.
