Position Description
This position is primarily responsible for compounding and dispensing medications to fill outpatient prescriptions written by physicians, dentists, and other qualified personnel, and for ensuring control of medications and pharmaceuticals within the Pharmacy. The person in this position serves as drug information source for medical personnel within the Student Health Clinic. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Chief Pharmacist.

Amarillo Pharmaceutical Care functions as an independent pharmacy, offering cutting-edge, innovative community pharmacy services. Pharmacists have access to electronic health records and have collaborative practice agreements for vaccinations and other services. TTUHSC seeks a pharmacist interested in managing the pharmacy and expanding our patient-care services.
This position is the Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) and is responsible for compounding and dispensing medications to fill outpatient prescriptions written by physicians, dentists, veterinarians, and other qualified personnel. The PIC is responsible for the supervision of pharmacy personnel and adherence to all Texas State Board of Pharmacy and TTUHSC policies. The person in this position also serves as a drug information source for medical personnel and patients on the Amarillo campus.
Required Qualifications
Education: Graduated from an approved accredited School of Pharmacy. License/Certification: Certification by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy. Experience: At least one year of experience as a pharmacist in a hospital or retail pharmacy.

- The pharmacy provides outpatient prescriptions, non-sterile compounding, vaccinations, and investigational drug services.
- Dispensing medication to fill outpatient prescriptions written by qualified personnel.
- Administer vaccinations and other injectable medications pursuant to a prescription order or under a collaborative management agreement.
- Ensure pharmacy personnel adheres to all Texas State Board of Pharmacy rules, quality assurance measures, and TTUHSC and School of Pharmacy Policies.
- Precept pharmacy students and technicians when assigned.
- Manage all pharmacy personnel including staff and students in the pharmacy.
Required Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications
- Certified by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy as an approved preceptor is preferred.
- Will be required to obtain Preceptor certification within 90 days of hire.
- Prior outpatient pharmacy management experience is preferred.
