Accounts Payable Specialist

We are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to support a busy finance team in Norfolk, Massachusetts. This Contract position is ideal for someone who can manage payables accurately, communicate effectively with vendors, and keep payment activity moving on schedule. The person in this role will contribute to day-to-day accounting operations while assisting with additional finance-related assignments as needed.

Responsibilities:
• Review and process vendor invoices with a high level of accuracy and timeliness.
• Assign proper general ledger codes to invoices and confirm supporting documentation is complete.
• Communicate with vendors to resolve billing questions, payment discrepancies, and outstanding issues.
• Prepare and coordinate ACH payments and check runs in accordance with established deadlines.
• Reconcile payable records and help maintain organized, up-to-date accounts payable documentation.
• Partner with internal teams to verify invoice details, approvals, and payment status.
• Support special accounting and administrative projects related to the accounts payable function.

Qualifications:

• Experience working in accounts payable or a closely related accounting support role.
• Practical knowledge of invoice coding and account coding procedures.
• Familiarity with ACH processing and check disbursement activities.
• Ability to manage a high volume of invoices while maintaining strong attention to detail.
• Comfortable communicating with vendors and internal stakeholders with a strong attention to detail.
• Proficiency with standard accounting systems and Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.

Compensation

$19.79-$22.91 Hourly
