Sr. Financial Analyst

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Financial Analyst to support financial planning, performance reporting, and operational analysis for a transport organization. This Long-term Contract position will partner with business leaders and corporate teams to turn complex financial and operational data into clear recommendations that improve planning, accountability, and efficiency. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical judgment, advanced modeling skills, and the ability to communicate insights that guide business decisions.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the planning and coordination of annual operating and capital budgets for assigned business areas, ensuring timelines, assumptions, and submissions are aligned with organizational goals.

• Examine monthly and periodic financial results, investigate variances against plan, and provide clear explanations to support corrective action and performance management.

• Work closely with accounting and business unit leadership to confirm expenses are recorded accurately, billed appropriately, and reflected correctly in financial reporting.

• Create and refine KPI tracking tools, dashboards, and analytical models that measure productivity, operating trends, and overall business performance.

• Interpret financial and operational data to support forecasting, scenario planning, and informed decision-making across departments.

• Build and maintain advanced Excel-based models that consolidate operational and financial information for reporting and analysis needs.

• Assess current business performance to identify cost, process, and efficiency improvement opportunities backed by data-driven analysis.

• Develop cost-benefit evaluations for proposed initiatives, capital requests, and investment decisions to support leadership review.

• Deliver ad hoc financial and operational analysis, presentations, and special project support for business partners and corporate stakeholders.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in financial analysis within a corporate or business unit environment, with responsibility for planning, reporting, and performance evaluation.
• Strong background in financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis using large or complex data sets.
• Advanced Excel skills with the ability to build practical models, reporting tools, and performance tracking solutions.
• Ability to analyze operational and financial trends and translate findings into actionable recommendations for leadership.
• Experience partnering with cross-functional teams such as FP& A, accounting, treasury, and human resources.
• Knowledge of annual operating and capital budget processes, including reconciliation and expense monitoring.
• Familiarity with data mining techniques and financial systems such as Great Plains is preferred.

Compensation

$51.46-$59.59 Hourly
