Accounting Manager/Supervisor
A growing and established organization is seeking a Senior Accounting Manager to oversee General Accounting, Project Accounting, and Accounts Payable functions. This position is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, leading process improvement initiatives, and supporting the continued growth of the business. The ideal candidate is a hands-on accounting leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys developing teams while driving operational excellence.
Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop Accounting and Accounts Payable team members.
- Establish performance goals and support employee growth and development.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
General Accounting
- Oversee fixed assets, capital project accounting, prepaids, accruals, bank reconciliations, intercompany accounting, and other key balance sheet accounts.
- Ensure accurate and timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
- Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Maintain compliance with U.S. GAAP, company policies, and internal controls.
Accounts Payable & Working Capital
- Manage the full accounts payable cycle, including vendor management, payment processing, and issue resolution.
- Implement and maintain strong controls related to vendor setup, approvals, and payments.
- Partner with business leaders to improve working capital performance and optimize payment strategies.
Process Improvement & Systems
- Drive process improvement, standardization, and automation initiatives.
- Enhance accounting procedures and internal controls to support scalability.
- Partner with technology teams on ERP enhancements and workflow improvements.
Audit, Compliance & Reporting
- Serve as a primary contact for external auditors related to accounting operations.
- Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation.
- Support compliance with SOX requirements and corporate accounting policies.
- Assist with financial reporting and management reporting needs.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, Procurement, Treasury, and other stakeholders.
- Provide accounting guidance and financial insights to business leaders.
- Support strategic projects, operational initiatives, and growth activities.
Qualifications:
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibility.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and month-end close processes.
- Experience overseeing General Accounting and Accounts Payable functions.
- Knowledge of internal controls and SOX compliance.
- ERP experience required; SAP experience preferred.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Proven success leading process improvement and automation initiatives.
- Experience leveraging technology and AI tools within accounting processes is a plus.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Compensation
