Controller
Responsibilities:
• Bring financial records current by reviewing existing documentation, resolving outstanding accounting items, and organizing priorities for timely completion.
• Prepare audit support materials, including reconciliations and workpapers, to help ensure the company is ready for ongoing audit requirements.
• Complete balance sheet account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies to improve accuracy in reported results.
• Support month-end close activities by finalizing entries, validating account balances, and confirming that reporting deadlines are met.
• Produce financial statements and verify that underlying data aligns with budgets and supporting schedules.
• Analyze differences between budgeted and actual results, highlighting key variances and helping leadership understand financial performance.
• Work within the company’s current spreadsheet-based reporting environment and accounting systems to gather, validate, and organize financial information.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and existing team members to transition outstanding accounting tasks to completion during the engagement.
Qualifications:
• Demonstrated experience in a Controller or senior accounting leadership role within a fast-paced business environment.• Strong background in audit preparation, including creation and review of audit workpapers and supporting schedules.
• Hands-on expertise with month-end close processes and balance sheet account reconciliation.
• Proven ability to prepare accurate financial statements and connect reporting details to budget performance.
• Experience performing variance analysis and identifying the drivers behind financial fluctuations.
• Comfortable working with established documentation, spreadsheets, and legacy accounting tools to complete time-sensitive deliverables.
• Able to manage a short-term assignment independently while coordinating effectively with internal contacts.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
Compensation
