Staff Accountant

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join an organization in Cincinnati, Ohio in a Contract position. This role will support core accounting activities, maintain accurate financial records, and contribute to timely reporting that helps guide business decisions. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working across general ledger processes, reconciliations, and operational collaboration while ensuring compliance with accounting standards and applicable regulations.

Responsibilities:

• Apply established accounting policies and financial procedures within the assigned area while maintaining records in accordance with GAAP and relevant tax guidelines.

• Prepare and review recurring journal entries, oversee general ledger activity, and complete accurate account reconciliations on a monthly or quarterly schedule.

• Assist with monthly management reporting by analyzing results against budgets, forecasts, and operational performance measures.

• Partner closely with operations teams to improve reporting quality and provide meaningful financial insight across assets and projects.

• Support accounting leadership with year-end audit coordination and tax filing activities in collaboration with external accounting partners.

• Address questions from managers and stakeholders by providing clear explanations of accounting information, reports, and investment-related data.

• Process accounting tasks related to accounts payable, including invoice coding and related recordkeeping, as needed.

• Contribute to additional assignments and special projects that support departmental and organizational priorities.

Qualifications:

• Experience preparing journal entries, maintaining general ledger records, and completing account reconciliations.
• Working knowledge of accounts payable processes, including invoice coding and transaction review.
• Hands-on experience using MRI or MRI Software in an accounting environment.
• Understanding of GAAP and standard accounting controls and documentation practices.
• Ability to analyze financial information and support internal reporting for management.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage recurring deadlines accurately.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with accounting and operations teams.

Compensation

$23.00-$26.00 Hourly
