Purpose of the Job
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving production equipment and facility systems to support safe, efficient, and reliable manufacturing operations.
We are seeking a mechanically inclined, self-motivated professional who enjoys solving complex equipment problems, working independently, and taking ownership of equipment reliability. The ideal candidate is proactive, resourceful, and committed to identifying permanent solutions rather than temporary fixes. Essential Functions
Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain a wide variety of production equipment and facility systems.
Perform mechanical repairs on conveyors, bearings, chains, sprockets, belts, shafts, gearboxes, pumps, motors, pneumatic systems, hydraulic systems, and other industrial equipment.
Diagnose equipment failures using systematic troubleshooting and root cause analysis techniques to implement long-term corrective actions.
Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance to maximize equipment reliability and minimize equipment downtime.
Read and interpret equipment manuals, mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation.
Set up and operate machine shop equipment including grinders, drill presses, lathes, and other fabrication equipment to repair or manufacture replacement parts.
Perform welding, fabrication, and equipment modifications to improve machine performance, safety, and reliability.
Troubleshoot industrial electrical systems including motors, drives, sensors, and controls. Experience with PLCs and VFDs is preferred but not required.
Assist with equipment installations, machine relocations, capital improvements, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Manage maintenance and facility improvement projects as assigned, coordinating activities with vendors, contractors, and internal departments.
Safely operate forklifts, scissor lifts, and other aerial work platforms.
Perform maintenance work at elevated heights, including rooftop equipment and building systems.
Maintain inventory of maintenance parts, supplies, and repair materials.
Complete maintenance documentation and work orders accurately and in a timely manner.
Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO).
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Communicate effectively with production personnel, supervisors, vendors, and fellow maintenance team members.
Maintain and continuously improve technical knowledge through training, hands-on experience, and self-development.
Qualifications
Education and/or Experience
Associate degree in Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and industrial maintenance experience.
Three to five years of industrial maintenance experience preferred.
Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills required.
Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, fabrication, machining, and industrial machine repair strongly preferred.
Electrical troubleshooting experience, including motors, drives, sensors, PLCs, and industrial controls, is highly desirable but not required.
Experience maintaining manufacturing or converting equipment is preferred.
Previous project coordination or project management experience is a plus.
Forklift and aerial lift (scissor lift/boom lift) experience preferred or willingness to become certified.
Comfortable working at heights, including ladders, rooftops, mezzanines, and elevated work platforms.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) communication skills are a plus.
Willingness to occasionally work a split shift between first and second shift to support production, training, and maintenance activities.
Language Ability
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, schematics, equipment documentation, and work instructions. Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with employees, supervisors, vendors, and contractors.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, crouch, reach, lift, carry, and use hands to perform maintenance activities. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
